Location: Veterans Park and parking lot, 40870 Big Bear Boulevard, and various City and County roads, and State Routes 18 & 38. Applicant: Thom Richmond; Butterfly Endurance dba Cal Tri Events. Representative: Ben Newberry. Major Special Event application proposes a new triathlon event, the Cal Tri Big Bear, headquartered at Veterans Park on Saturday August 27, 2022, from 7 am to noon. The event promoters estimate 500 participants and 250 spectators. Race courses include a Swim in Big Bear Lake, Bike and Run course along Lakeview Drive, and a Bike course along Big Bear Boulevard, State Routes 18 & 38, Stanfield Cutoff, and residential streets through the Eagle Point and Park Avenue neighborhoods. The applicant also requests traffic lane closures along Big Bear Boulevard and Lakeview Drive.
